I can tell you my story which seems to be a lot like yours. A "routine" sonogram before a scheduled D&C found the mass. I was told by my gyn that it was probably a fibroid sitting on top of the uterus. She sent me for an MRI. I was very la-di-da about it but her nurse called me that afternoon and told me I had to go ASAP. And then she said "good luck." When I went for the MRI, the tec also told me "good luck." I was freaking.
Then my gyn called about the MRI results and she told me that it was a mass attached to the ovary but "it could still be benign." This was New Year's Eve! She told me I should see a gyn oncologist! I had my records faxed over Jan 2 and waited until Jan 15 to see the new doctor.
He told me he was pretty sure it IS NOT malignant. Of course they can't be sure until they get in there. I have a TAH scheduled for Jan 29.
So, in other words, relax (or try to). The odds are in your favor.
I can't add much. Everyone is right. None of those who give tests are suppose to tell you anything. I have had one or two talk a little too much, but the waiting is always difficult. The best thing is to stay busy, which is easier said than done, and to find a friend to help you. Have coffee or go shopping. I will pray for you, if you don't mind. I have had frightening moments in the past, but I am so old and had my cancer so long. I just shrug my shoulders and say. 'So what!" But you are young and have a lot of living to do. So being frightened is natural. If you can tell yourself, this may be a good report, and wait and see. Not easy either, but a little positive thinking will stretch. Let us hear from you, and may God Bless you. Texas Grannie
Techs and nurses are NOT allowed to discuss the scan at all. I have had many CT scans, mammograms, bone density scans, etc etc, you will not get any info from the techs. All they are concerned about is getting a nice, crisp picture.
One time they had to repeat a procedure, I was sure it was because they saw something suspicious and wanted to get a different view maybe...not at all. They want to get the best pictures possible, even if there is nothing there.
Hang in there.
I agree with the others. Have a good weekend and we will be waiting to hear along with you next week that there is nothing scary. Love, Marie
I had to smile when I read your post about being concerned. Girl, you've been hanging around with too many ovarian cancer patients! LOL Kidding aside, nothing she said would be of any concern to me. Relax and enjoy your weekend. I know you don't want to BE one of us and I bet you won't be come this time next week.

what the heck .. I was busy typing you a reply and it switched all by itself to another medhelp page. Go figure.
The tech is not trained to read a scan. I have CD's of my PET/CT scans and even when I have an idea of where to look, it is next to impossible to tell what is what. I'm lucky to find my kidneys. The radiologist is trained for this stuff .. and I honestly don't know how the heck HE reads them ... let alone a tech.
Take a deep breath and try to relax. Try to think that what "may" be there is not going to go wild in a few days ... and, quite possibly, there is nothing there to worry about at all.

Whoa Hon! Calm down. By rights I do not think the techs are allowed to tell you anything. They have never told you anything like that before, but have you ever asked before? That is about the only kind of answer that they are allowed to give you.
Try not to stress to much over the weekend. I am sure that everything is ok. Besides it is the weekend and even if there was anything showing, you would not find out until next week anyway.
I know that you are scared, but just try to remain positive, enjoy the weekend and I am sure if there is anything to worry about you will hear from your Dr ASAP.
Love you,
Chris
