Surgery Thursday

Hello Ladies,
Here I am on my third forum this weekend, just writing 'cause I'm stressed and scared. I am having surgery Thuursday to remove a tumor, ovary, and uterus.  I've been felling ill for about a year.....Fortunantlely, I ended up in the hospital ove Christmas, and they found the tumor. Right away, they put me in touch with my gyno/oncologist (Thank, goodness)! He even came to see me on Christmas morning!!!!(First Christmas pelvic I've ever had). I feel fortunate to have him. He's done all the right tests-CT Scan, Vag U/S, CA125 and has repeated everything at least twice. (CA125 is elevated : ( . Anyway, here I am waiting for the surgery. Today is a good day.....I've been able to eat and everything with no problem (big deal for someone who's lost 50lbs in 9 months). Unfortunantly, it's given me time to stress. How do the rest of you fill the "wait time"? Me-----I'm going out with friends, tonight. Haven't felt well enough to do that in almost two months(YAE!!!!). Anyway, wish me luck on Thursday and great health to every one of you!!!!!
                                      Healthfully Yours,
                                             Shari

My night out was a success. We went to a karaoke Bar and sang and danced and drank our selves silly. Everyone was surprised to see me out and about. I just shrugged it off and continued to have fun.
How is everybody, today? I'm honestly just taking it easy and nursing a bit of a hang-over that I sooooo deserve. I showed this web site to my best friend, Rosemary, last night. She thought it was really cool!!!Some of your stories brought tears to her eyes. That's okay....she just has a huge heart! She's been my rock through all this, and I know she will continue to be. My husband has done his best, but he is spending a lot of time in "Fear Land"" as I call it.
Well, Happy Sunday to all.....ttu soon          Shari

Saw your note over on the doctor forum and answered there. Sorry, I didn't know the surgery was coming up that soon. As I said way over there, I just had my surgery this past Thursday. Yes, the waiting is hard. Yes, I tried to get everything in order - clean the house, return the library books, make a list of phone numbers for hubby to call, etc. No way did I want to come home to all these chores staring me in the face.

As for fat pants: I'm using yoga pants. They're soft stretchy cotton stuff. They don't have a real waistband, just a wide stretchy band that somehow still stays up even though it's just folded over. With my 3 incisions I can't decide if I prefer full panties or bikinis. Either way I'm getting some pressure. I'd say my belly button gets priority since it's the most sensitive. Maybe you can be a wild woman and go without. Woo-hoo!

Let us know how you're doing. Feel free to vent, ramble and muse when the mood hits. It was amazing what strange things went through my mind leading up to the big day. Take care.

Hi,again,
Thanks for all the quick responses....(Jan, I sent you a personal extra e-mail). Well, just to let you know.....I have a nice sexy shirt on for tonight (waiting on the jeans-----ya know, the whole bloated thing!). Like I told Jan, I won't be able to be sexy a week from now. You all are right about cleaning and such......Been trying between resting. I'll probably seek ya all  out tomorrow on the FORUM. Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you!!!!!
                              Hugs all around,
                                     Shari

Good for you that you have surgery scheduled already and will get all of this taken care of!
You might find that you'll get a "nesting instinct;" you'll want to clean, cook, repair stuff, etc in these next few days.  Just like at the end of a pregnancy! Go for it!  Cooking is especially good; coming home to your favorite foods is really gratifying.
Take good care of yourself, Shari.  It'll be over before you know it!
All my prayers are with you.

Hi Shari,
Well, you sound like you're on the right track.  I'm glad for that.  I know the wait is horrible but you're on the home stretch now.  Not sure if you have a family or not but you could try making some meals to freeze before Thursday.  That will most certainly help you and them out and keep you busy for a couple of days.

Have fun with your friends tonight.

I am glad you are going to have surgery and hopefully that will be the end of it and of the pain and weight issues.  It is good that you are able to go out with friends, that will really help keep your mind off of it.  I filled the wait time (which was a week) with worry, fear, pacing and organizing everything in the house.  My closests have never been cleaner.  LOL
I don't understand why your Dr has waited two months to get you into surgery?  Did they say why they have waited?
Anyway, good luck to you and I will be hoping for a good outcome.
Kindest Regards,
Jan
