Is it really ovarian cancer?

Hi ,my wife was admitted in hospital 5 days ago.
Since 14 days ,she was feeling bloated and her abdomin was swollen. When I took her to hospital they performed various tests like Ultrasound ,sonography, blood tests.
they kept her for 5 days in hospital  during which they took out 9.7 litres of abdominal fluid out of her body using tube.
my wife is only 23 years old. Her CA125 was 417 .Ultrasound suggests there is a complex multicystic mass in her left ovary.ovaries couldnt be seen due to abdominal fluid.
Cytology report of the abdominal fluid  is awaited.
MRI scan to be done within 10 days.

I have done some research of internet ,each site says that its very un-usual for such a young lady to have a possible ovarian cancer.

I just want to know that ,the presence of this liquid is a definite sign of cancer or  it could be due to benign cyst as well.

This discussion is related to CA125  very high.

i hope its not cancer.  the doctors did talk about surgery but before that they want the cytology to come back. Also ,its very hard to conduct MRI immediately due to long wait.therefore we have been given the priority appointment which is in 9 days time.

Also ,the ovarian cyst she has must be growing long time ago therefore its so big (10cm in diameter) . However ,let me tell you that how she got ill.
She has been fasting for 30 days  ,which obviously caused her lot of starvation.
soon after fasting were finishing ,(like on the 26th fast) ,she became unwell and her abdomen started growing big.

I assume ,this abdominal fluid has something to do with starvation otherwise why it just happened after fasting or you think it might be a coincidence.

Ofcourse, nothing confirmed can be said before the cytology comes back ,but i just want to be know that ,the presense of such a large amount of fluid in abdomen is not a definitive indicator of cancer.

Your help would be appreciated.

Ali - what have the doctors suggested to you?  Why did they not do the MRI when she was in the hospital?  If they feel that there is acomplex cyst and her CA125 is so high, did the doctor not suggest surgery?

I am certain that the fluid that comes will show if there is cancer or an infection.

Best of luck,
Pam
