pelvic mass

had partial hysterectomy 5 years ago, due to massive periods, since then I have had pain under right ribcage for three years (comes and goes always tender), Dr. did ultra sound of that area but never investigated further, problem with bowels since surgery (can't go),  roughly 3 years high blood pressure (even after losing 30 lbs now 160), GERD,  recently (last year back pain, lower back) and right hip hurts when bearing weight, now OB/GYN found mass, ultrasound report said left ovary normal, couldn't find right ovary, mass where right would be measuring " 15cm x 10cm x 13cm, septation separation from bladder, no free fluid. CA125 was 6.1".  Had a history when in my 20's (48 now)  of cysts but Military Dr, said nothing to worry about because they were removed when I had my period? Family history of (immediate family) prostate cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, along with long family history(one side of family) of strokes.Have appointment in few days with a Gyn Oncology what should I expect? What questions should I ask? Could all the other things be related?

They can't give you hormones because of Cancer risk.  Losing both Ovaries has been hard on me. I have night sweats twenty times a night I have hot flashes. Your sex life changes. For me I just do not care about sex. I can't even fanatize. I am married so I have to have sex. So I pretend a lot. I went to a PT and use dialator to deal with the pain from the dryness. I had no choice because I had Cancer in both Ovaries. You can get used to menapause.

Got a second opinion today.  They have scheduled me for preop test Thursday surgery Fri morning.  I have to decide whether to keep the left ovaries , I am worried about if whatever caused my body to do this will decide to attack the next one. I can't do this surgery twice!  What is menopause like?  Do you know anyone who took the hormones?  Side effects?  I would appreciate any experience that I can use to balance my decision.

I know its hard not to worry but try not to. Most Ovarian Cysts are benign. With me they gave me no time. I had an Ultra sound Thursday and I was at the GYN oncologist Tuesday and in surgery on Monday.

GYN oncologists deal with all kinds of complex things not just cancer. Did you say CA125 61? 35 and below is normal. Other things besides cancer can raise the CA125. It is not unusual to find the ovary the Uterus holds all that stuff in place and it gets lost with out it. They should take a history, look at tests and do a physical exam. Make sure they do an exam with a rectal. Its important. An Ovarian Mass even non cancer can cause pain. Sometimes they can't tell what's going on with the Ovaries unless they do surgery. Other times an Ultra sound or CT Shows whether it is Cancer or not.I am no doctor but it is definitely worth an appointment with a Gyn/Oncologist. At least they are looking. It could go either way. Last month they were sure a friend had Ovarian and they got to surgery and it was benign. Can you take someone with you? It helps to have another set of ears and if they say something scary you do not want to be alone. I was and regret it. Also you can always get a second opinion. Nothing is set in stone either way.

I am thinking of you. Remember to breathe. You are not alone even though you might feel like you are. My husband just did not understand how scary it was for me.
