update on my niece

We just got the results back from the Mayo clinic on my niece's biopsy and it isn't good.  It turns out that it is NOT ovarian cancer but is an extremely rare and aggressive cancer called desmoplastic small round cell tumor. She will be starting aggressive chemo tomorrow. She will then have surgery to remove as much of the tumors as possible. Then she will have radiation, more chemo and a stem cell transplant.  We will remain hopeful that she will beat this. I'm not really posting any question, but I want to thank you for this wonderful site and all the love and support that flows from here.

Suzie

That is discouraging news. I'm glad to hear they're not dragging their feet on this and will start treatment immediately. She'll be facing some challenges but this board is here for you and for her - not only to answer questions but to give support and understanding. Hugs and prayers to you both.  Irene
