Cyst removal

I have had a cyst on my left ovary since the beginning of August.  My GYN and I have decided to remove it as it causes considerable pain quite often. Should I have both ovaries removed while she is in there?  (I had my uterus removed last November).

My GYN told me he does not like to take both ovaries out, as recent studies show that they are still producing hormones that help your bones and other things clear into your 80's. I would recommend not having them both removed unless it is medically necessary.

Thank you for your input.  I am just worried since I am a cyst former that I will have to have the right one removed down the road anyway! :(
