Foods that could trigger the developing of cysts?

Hi,

My friend, who is a woman of 45 years, has been receiving a prescription diet from many years ago that excludes nuts (almonds, tree nuts, etc), peanuts, strawberries, chocolate, coffee, saussages, among other things.
This diet is to prevent formation of cysts, which she is prone to produce under the right circumstances.
Since I usually do the cooking for both, my question is about what compounds these foods share that could be acting as a cyst trigger.
So I can research in more detail about other ingredients that could be also triggering that are not included on the list.

I'm a little confused because papers I have been reading from sites like Pubmed state some of that ingredients as anticarcinogenic and recommend to eat them as prevention of cysts.
Maybe a estrogenic with ERα affinity compound that those thing share?

Thank you so much.

Hello and thank you for the question on our forum.  Your friend is lucky to have someone willing to do her cooking and keep her dietary concerns in check. Diet modifications are one of the first steps in managing the development of ovarian cysts so we are happy she is in tune with that. Certain foods affect our hormones and that is how they contribute to the development of cysts. Does your friend have a condition called PCOS? Legumes, for example, are not recommended to eat because they contain lectins which can affect hormones and increase inflammation. Strawberries I would say that she should ask her nutritionist. Berries of all sorts are usually considered good for those trying to prevent cysts. Coffee and in particular caffeinated coffee is know to dehydrate us which leads to inflammation and that is how it is involved in cysts. Sausage falls in the area of fatty foods and saturated fat, both recommended to avoid.  saturated fat affects our hormones.

Did your friend work with a nutritionist?
