Hemmoragatic Ovarian Cyst Duration

I am a 33 year old mother of two children and have had ovarian cysts forever. One ruptured and broke a blood vessel and it was the worst pain ever! I have been having super heavy periods so I decided to see an OB and she suggested an ultrasound. They found a 1.4 hemmoragatic cyst on the right ovary and told me to follow up in three months. 5 months later I went it for the follow up and it is still there (left side has a simple cyst as well) and it is still about the same but is 1.8 now. She said that we should just watch it and I should come back in three months for another ultrasound. Now even with all my cyst that were sometimes grapefruit sized, I never opted for surgery and they all resolved on their own. My question is, how long should a hemmoragatic cyst last? Is it ok to just do the watch and wait method? I just don't want to be missing something and have some ovary burst or have it be some cancerous cyst, if that is even possible. As I said, I have now had two ultrasounds of the cyst and they don't seem concerned at all. Thanks, I really appreciate your responses!:):):)

hi, im 16 years old and about 9 weeks ago i had sever bleeding after sex with my boyfriend of more than a year. I thought maybe i was spotting at first but.. thats was way wrong.. i was told not to wear tampons and to put on a pad however when my heart rate hit 145 bpm and i bled through each pad within 30 mins i decided to go to the hospital, i got 3 blood transfusions and a dnc and was told that it was amazing that i made it because my blood pressure way 70/29. Afterwards, they (the drs) said i should be fine and sometimes happens to girls my age (which was a lie, i looked it up). ive had pelvic pains, fatigue, chest ribs, and back pains also. i went back to the dr. and told him i believe my gyno was wrong and my thought was i had ovarian cyts, after the ultra sound i was told i was correct and if the pain continues for 2 weeks to see my gyno. im worried, eventhough im young, that i have ovarian cancer, however noone will listen to me eventhough i was correct about the cycts.if i was you, i would put my foot down and tell them how it is and have them test you.. good luck and i hope it all works out.! p.s. i hope my story inspires you, because since your an adult people will listen to you, i believe if you feel something is wrong you need to go with your gut. and even if your wrong, you will feel much relief. good luck.! also i have taken 3 years of medical classes at a vocational school. so im a little knowledgeable :)

Hi,
The size of the haemorrhagic cysts you have mentioned is small and should not pose a problem. Such cysts will eventually resolve spontaneously with time. This may take 3 to 6 months. Small cysts usually do not burst. If you are very much concerned about the nature of the cyst and whether it is cancerous a diagnostic laparoscopy with guided biopsy may be one of the options.
Take care and good luck.
