Question about ovarian cyst pain

Hello,

I am a 26 year old and recently my doctor discovered a 7cm cyst on my right ovary. She told me she thinks it will go away on its own and to come back in June for another ultrasound. She also told me that if I have pain to go to the hospital. Well today I am experiencing some sharp pains in my lower abdomen. I first felt it on the left and then on the right. It isn't a constant pain. The sharp stabbing pain happens every once in a while. Also, its not a pain that makes me say ow or anything like that. I guess what I mean is that it is very bearable. Anyway my question is do you think these pains are related to my cyst? And also I have a high tolerance for pain so how what type of pain is serious enough for me to go to the hospital?  Has anyone had to go to the ER for a cyst similar to mine? What kind of pain did you feel and where? If anyone can help me I would appreciate it.

You're welcome!  Well as your dr. said, with my cysts ovulation time is extremely painful.  Before and after ovulation they hurt, just not as bad, but it's always a nagging pain that comes and goes, but never stays away.  I hope yours goes away on it's on . Mine are from Endo but any cysts can be painful.  I'm glad they're getting you in there at the beginning of June..  When you go..IF it's going to go away on it's own it's only going to shrink in size...it'll eventually go away.  I hope it's shrunk some, at least if not alot!!   If not, they'll probably do laparoscopic surgery and remove them.   Have you ever had cysts before?  Hoping you get some good news!!  :) If I can help in anyway, please let me know!

Thank you for your comment. , I spoke to my doctor on the phone and she said that I am just experiencing pain from ovulation. She told me the same things you said that if it had ruptured then I would have horrible pain, fever, and nausea as well as bleeding. So she said my sharp pain should only last a couple of days. My appointment is in early June, like the first week. The doctor told me that she thinks my cyst will go away on its own and in June if it hasn't gone down any that she would send me to a surgeon. Sorry to hear about all of your pain. Is it constant pain that never goes away? I hope everything goes well after your surgery. Let me know how things go.

Hi there.  I have a cyst on both ovaries...Mine are only a inch and a half in size though (as of last month, not sure if the've grown or not), but they are SOoo painful!  I also have endometriosis and having surgery 23rd for both.  They said they were going to drain my cyst and remove them.  Cyst can be extremely painful.  My ovaries (or that area) hurts alot because of them.  I'll get very sharp pains, stabbing like.  They come and go but for the most time it's just a dull nagging pain. I'm sorry that I can't give you exact pain because my endo hurts me soo bad.  It keeps my lower back, lower stomach, hips, thighs and sometimes pain radiates down my legs from it.  BUT I do know they say that some cyst can rupture.  You're looking for extreme pain, fever, nausea things like that.  If it gets that bad, go to the ER!!   I would think they would be checking you sooner, if it's already that big.  When is your appointment in June?  I hope it's at the beginning of the month!  I wish you all the best!! Please keep me posted on how it goes!!
