Petrified....

I recently had an abdomen and pelvic CT for kidney stones and read the following that was included on the report:

The uterus is normal for age. There is a complex left ovarian
lesion measuring 1.9 cm and containing internal fluid density,
likely representing a cyst or follicle.
Right ovarian cyst. This is probably physiologic in a
premenopausal patient. If there is concern for right ovarian
pathology, correlation with endovaginal ultrasound is
recommended.

The urologist never mentioned it so I emailed my PCP to ask if I should be concerned. I was sent a speedy reply and have a vaginal US3 scheduled next week. Someone please help in explaining what is going on. I have read a TON of information and it is petrifying.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, this offers some reassurance. I will try to stop researching and will breathe easier when it is confirmed. Thanks again!

Welcome to the community. I know it can be scary but ovarian cysts are common and almost always benign, even complex ones. Yours is very small and may resolve without any treatment. In a lot of cases like this, periodic ultrasounds ate the standard of care especially if you do not have a family history of ovarian cancer. Women without OC history have a less than 2% lifetime risk. I hope this helps allay your fears!
