Ovarian Cyst

I had an ultrasound in October and below are the findings.  Below this one is my newest follow up ultrasound.  My question is this typical of ovarian cancer.  I am 47 years old and I started with abnormal menustration which is still not consistent.  Should I resolve to the fact it's menopause or a strong possiblility of these findings?  Any help is appreciated.  I

FINDINGS: Transabdominal and transvaginal examinations were performed, the
latter for better visualization of the endometrium and adnexa. The uterus is
anteverted, retroflexed, and measures 8 x 4.2 x 6.5 cm. The endometrium is
normal and measures 9 mm. The ovaries are normal. There is a 5.4 x 4.3 x 5.4
cm left adnexal cyst with scattered internal echoes. This could be due to a
physiologic cyst or a neoplasm. Recommend a six-week followup. There is no
free fluid.

IMPRESSION: 5.4 x 4.3 x 5.4 cm left adnexal cyst with scattered internal
echoes. The differential includes a physiologic cyst versus ovarian neoplasm.
Recommend followup in six weeks.

Newest Ultrasound:

FINDINGS: Transabdominal and transvaginal sonograms were performed, the
latter of which for further delineation of the endometrium and adnexa. A
retroverted uterus measures 7.9 x 7.1 x 5 cm, without focal lesions. The
endometrium appears homogeneous and measures up to 11 mm in thickness. The
right ovary is normal in size and appearance. The left ovary measures 5.8 x
3.3 x 2.8 cm, and contains a 4.8 x 3 x 2.9 cm simple cyst. It is unclear
whether this represents the same left adnexal cyst described on prior exam
which at that time measured 5.4 x 5.4 x 4.3 cm. There is no evidence of solid
adnexal mass. Trace free fluid is present in the cul-de-sac.

IMPRESSION: 4.8 x 2.9 x 3 cm simple left adnexal cyst may represent a
physiologic cyst or a benign ovarian neoplasm. It is unclear whether this
corresponds to the same cyst identified previously. Sonographic followup in
six weeks is recommended.

Thank you so much...it's good to get other opinions regarding something I don't really understand.  Much appreciated.

No, this is not typical of ovarian cancer.  You are doing the right thing by having another scan in 6 weeks.  The next one will likely determine if surgery will be required.
