I too am a bit surprised that your doctor took such a lax approach to you having a complex cyst. My doctors have told me that complex cyst normally do not go away on their own. I agree with Marie, I would demand that they take it out, especially so they could look for your ovary. It is always best to trust your instincts. Nobody knows your body better than you do, and if you think something isn't right, it probably isn't'!! I highly recommend you seek a second opinion. Good luck. Please keep us posted on how you are doing. Prayers!
Hi, well as suspected the Dr did not seem concerned that they couldn't see the ovary or cyst. He said that they cyst is gone and the ovary is so small they just didn't see it. So, when I asked him do complex cyst just disappear he said he would follow in 3 months. I'm scheduled to go back Tuesday for another sonogram. If the cyst is there and he wants to just follow it I'm asking him to take it out. If he won't 'm changing Drs. If it's not there and they can't see the ovary I may change Drs too because I've been having pain on my right side something isn't right. I have not had a cycle since December so hopefully the uterus lining isn't thick again. If it is I'm not taking the pills he gave me before---I'm just saying take it out!! Thanks for your opinion and help!
Not seeing the ovary doesn't mean the ovary or the cyst have vanished. They could have shifted themselves and are hiding behind something like the uterus. I think they should have been more proactive with the 4.5 cm complex cyst when they saw it in November. More than likely it should have been scheduled for removal. It is not safe to keep these around for any length of time in older women close to menopause or after menopause. I wouldn't settle for an unvisualized ovary at this point. They either need to try harder to see what is going on there or you may need a referral to a higher level of specialist. Unless you really , really like this doctor and willing to give him/her the benefit of the doubt, I would be asking to see the best gynecologist/oncologist associated with whatever hospital you favor the most. Gyn/onc's don't pussyfoot over complex cysts.
