Hi everyone, I've been reading different posts on this site for a few days now and thought that I would post my own.
I am 26 yrs old, and in pretty good health overall-no children. For the past month now I have been having a crampy feeling in my lower abdomen, and pain on both of my sides that is sometimes in my lower back as well. I feel very tired all of the time...just no energy at all. I feel like I have this dull achy feeling over my pelvis area, almost as if I worked out too hard and did too many sit ups or something.
I went to the ER because of pain, and they did a CT scan of which they reported to me that it showed nothing, and perhaps it was a kidney stone that they couldn't see. So they sent me home with a strainer, and said maybe it will get better on its own. I went to my dr, and because of where I was describing the pain was at, she wanted me to have a colonoscopy. But I didn't feel like that's where the problem was coming from.
So finally I had a pelvic ultrasound done, and the results came back that there is a 1cm x 2cm cyst near my right ovary. It actually said on the report, anterior and lateral to the bladder--near right ovary. :( So now I'm scared, and I've found that the worst thing to do is look up symptoms online.
I have no family history of breast or ovarian cancer in my family on either side. I'm just worried in the mean time...
I've read that most of the time when a ovarian cyst is found that the dr. will put you on birth control pills to take care of it. But I have been on Ortho Tricyclen Lo for almost 5 years now, and I have never had any cysts in the past. I thought that the BC helped to prevent ovarian cycts?
I'm just really worried now, I'm trying not to stress but it's not really working.. Can anyone relate? :(
