sleep

Hi all. Well, my surgery was 04/19/10.  And, I am doing so much better (aside from the ever seeping incision site) and am going back to work Monday.  Unfortunately, I have not slept well since the surgery and its been even worse since I stopped the pain meds.  Anyone else have this issue?  If so, what did you do?   I just gotta get some sleep!

I'm so glad to know I'm not alone!  LOL. I feel like I should be back to normal by now, and have a hard time explaining to people why I'm not quite there yet.   I feel like I'm making excuses...  but not really. I dont know...  I am so totally grateful for this forum and those of you who respond to our concerns and encourage us from beginning to end!  This site has been a great reference and therapy for me.

I too have had this problem.  We are supposed to get good rest while we are recovering, but then we can't sleep LOL.  Sometimes I have to resort to taking Tylenol PM, but you have to be careful if you are still on pain meds because a lot of the over the counter sleeping aids have Tylenol in them.  You can call your doctor and request a sleeping aid.  You could also try drinking a warm cup of tea (non caffeinated) with a bit of milk in it.  Sometimes it helps me.  I hope you get the rest you need.

Hi,
I had lung surgery two years ago that required a general anesthesia and had the same problem for several weeks.  I had laparoscopic surgery to remove ovary/tube on Wednesday and have had restless sleep since then.  I have been told walking and water help clear the anesthesia from your system.  I also feel kind of depressed even though surgery resulted in good news.  I am blaming the drugs for this too:)
