going to the doctors

Hi everyone, i have an appointment to go see my orthopedic doctor on Thursday for my knee. I am kinda nervous because i have been having a few problems with my knee since my surgery and hes probably going to make me wear my knee brace even longer then i was suppose to, I really want to get my brace off. Also he said he didn't think i needed physical therapy which i don't understand because my leg has been strait for a few weeks and i haven't been able to bend it, do you think i should ask for it? I kinda want it to be on the safer side, even though i hate physical therapy but in the past i always ended up needing it. I have a feeling if i don't have physical therapy other problems can return because im not strengthening what i had repaired.

yeah i knw i have to be o bed rest for my baby, and the only reason why i got up and walked the other day is because if i didnt, i would have probably done something to myself, i have really bad depression and when all i do is sit around and when im forced to sit around it makes me depression worst, and i know my baby is more important, but it seems like my bedrest is creating more problems for me, i called my doctor and i have an appointment for tomorrow to go and talk to her, and go for a check up again, im sick of all these appointments, im gonna be such a bad parent, i already feel like i am because im selfish, ugh its just to much.

Katie, when you are put on bed-rest, you aren't supposed to walk around.  I know that all of your Doctor's are talking with each other concerning your care, because you have told me that, therefore you won't be able to go to PT until it is OK'd by your OB.  You need to slow down and take a lot of "deep breaths" and just relax.  After all you must now put your Sweet Baby first above everything that you want.  It's going to be doubly difficult as you are only 17 (almost 18) and at that age it's very hard to be able to stay still for long periods of time. :)  The life of your Baby depends on that cyst not breaking.  That being said, you must stay in bed until your OB let's you off bed-rest.  Don't take anymore walks down the block "because you are tired of being on bed-rest".  Please do what your OB is telling you to do.  If you don't mind her she/he might put you in the hospital until your baby is delivered or until your cyst either ruptures or dissolve's and I don't think you would enjoy either one of those alternatives.

Katie, when you post something like this on here you must put in all of the information so that a poster such as Sandee1818 will know everything that is going on.  She' a very bright Lady and one of our CL's but if she doesn't know all of the information then she can't give you an answer that will apply in your case.  You need to always inform them that you are on bed-rest for your cyst and that you are pregnant.  These are very important facts and must be included if you are asking for advice about how to get your Doctor to send you to PT when you are still on bed-rest. :(

That being said, I'm sure that when the time is right your Doctor will send you to PT, if he deems it necessary.  His hands are tied as of now, and until you are off of bed-rest he can do nothing about it to help you.  When you are off of bed-rest then you can approach him as Sandee1818 suggested to you.

You really need to stay down, even though it's very difficult for you so that you can protect the life of your Sweet Baby.  Just hang in there and before you know it your Sweet Baby will be here and you won't need to worry about bed-rest anymore!!  :)

Thinking of you...............NamNam  :)

im suppose to be walking on it, im just suppose to be on bedrest because of my cyst, i have been doing everything i was told to, i accidentally bent it a little a few times, but it wasnt enough to mess up the work he did, and ever since i got yelled at for seeping without my brace on i have been and that was weeks ago, im just hoping i get this brace off, its really annoying and uncomfortable. I hate the healing process, its the worst part :( i have ignored so many problems because of my knees, i couldnt get anything else looked at or fixed because of my knees. hopefully that was the last surgery because in the future if im told i need srgery again, idk if i will be able to go through that again.

Hi katie,

You know that your surgeon is really a good one and that your knee surgery has been very complex.  Your surgeon will let you know when your ready for PT.  From all that you've told me you've been up on it when you weren't supposed to be so you need to slow down an let it heal.  It will heal and hopefully you will get everything working as it's supposed to and you will be able to get around like all of the 17 year olds are doing.

Just hang in there and everything will be alright!!

Hang in there...........Sherry  :)

Hi,
One thing to remember is that we hire our Doctor's, keep this in mind when yours seems to go against what you feel is best.
I would suggest to your Doctor that you feel you need PT and ask him/her why they are not recommending it. If the reasoning does not feel like what is best for you then you need to be assertive and let them know that you would like to go ahead with it anyways. Let them know you apreciate their opinion.
We know what is best for us and our body more than anyone.
I hope the appointment goes well and you are doing better very soon. Healing takes time so don't rush it:)
