No Jake, they should not have the power to tie you into their facility. After all they can chose not to treat you at any time.
I think this is still America where we have the right (unless limited by an HMO) to select who cares for our medical needs.

thanks tuck i think your right ithink they did do me a favor i have already gotten a referal froim my physician to go to a new pm doc curious though about any contracts i might have with the previous clinic i am still kind of new to the pm community and am not sure of any contracts i know you shopuld read everything before sighning but...they shouldnt stop me fom changing should they?
Hi Jake,
Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum. I am sorry that you have pain and are being treated poorly by the PM Clinic.
As said earlier I am surprised that they kept you. That is not normal practice according to all I have read. However they may not have done you a favor since your treatment has been less than desirable.
I would find another PM Clinic since you have not been satisfied there since the beginning. You now know the rules. If you follow them I would think that you may find more interest and concern that you receive currently.
I do not have experience with a PMP since my state it is the PCP that follows and prescribes for their PM patients. Good luck to you. I hope you will let us know how you are doing.
Take Care,
Tuck
thnks for the input , no i have not seen my doc since and if they dont want to deal with me should i start looking for another doctor see ive had problems with this clinic since ive started. the very first time i went the doc was was good to me but like i said when they found the thc they treated me alot different.and every time i go its a different doc now.i had never been to pm before and there was some cofusion the first time i went .the doc prescribed me ms contin and i did not know that was morphine witch i am allergic so i brought the script back to him and he gave me oxy and my insurance would ntot cover something to do with name brand well as i said im not familiar with all these meds so i had an advocate go with me to my next appt and thats when they found the thc and i guess i felt labeled but if i was was just seeking drugs i would not have went back after failing , instead i cleaned up as docs order and i still feel mistreated
Hi:
Welcome to the Pain Forum.
I'm surprised that they kept you on as a patient. Most of the clinics will let you go. Of course you should ask questions. You need to ask them why they switched you. You also need to tell them that your not doing so well on the lower dose of medication.
I fear this is happening because your Doctor doesn't want to deal with you anymore. Have you seen him since? If not, then ask why. You have a right to know.
I'm glad that you gave the pot up. It's not good for you and surely not good for your reputation with the clinic. Stay on the up & up. They will appreciate it. You will also not be in jeopardy of loosing your pain management.
Please take care,
Mollyrae
