In desperate need of pain management doctor!:(

Hello, my name is Lexie... I am a 29 yr old mother to a beautiful multi-talented 5 yr old girl. During childbirth there were complications that led to severe chronic pain in my lower back, hips, vagina, and for lack of a better word...butt. it has been described as "saddle pain". I was diagnosed with Pudendal Nerve Entrapment 4 years ago. Up until about a year ago I had a pain management doctor and was able to live a functioning life as mother and wife for the most part. (My pain would spike beyond the effectiveness of medications on occasion). My husband was laid off from his job and our insurance was dropped shortly after and we could no longer afford medications and appointments. Now that I have the means to pay for appointments and medications as well as having insurance, it has been impossible to find a doctor who is willing to provide pain management for me or is willing to accept me due to my diagnosis. If ANYONE has ANY info at all or knows of a doctor that might help me please please please answer my post. Thank you for your time and have a great day!

I'm glad you got a walker to help you get around.  Please don't ever be self conscious about using it - you are doing whatever you can to help you and your family and using the walker is aiding you with that.

I'm sorry you didn't get more repsonse to your original question.  Unfortunately, here on medhelp, we don't recommend doctors of any kind to others.  The main reason being that the doctor that is perfectly right for me may not be right for you - same as the med that works for my pain may not work for yours.

It sounds like you've already done some research trying to find a new doctor, but a couple of suggestions I might add, if you haven't already done so - is call your local hospital and ask them if they have a physician referral service.  Many hospitals do (and it's usually free).  They might be able to provide you with a list of doctors in your area.

Is there any way you can go back to the PM (pain management) that you had been seeing?  If you haven't already done so, I would suggest giving his office a call and explain your situation to them and see if it would be possible.  It sounds like he was treating you well and definitely understood your condition, so if you can get back in with him, I think that would be the best bet.

Have you asked your OB/BYN or PCP if they have any suggestions as to a PMP?  Your OB might be a good source of information here, since the cause of your pain was cause from a complication with childbirth - he/she may be a little more familiar with it and be able to refer you to the right PMP.

I wish you the best of luck!  Please keep us posted as to what you find out and how you're doing.
