Ineffective painkillers?

I've been on Tramadol caps and BuTrans patches for over 7 months. My GP recently added oramorph to this but mentioned that BuTrans and Tramadol counter-act each other so the patch may not be working to the extent it should be.

Has anyone else heard about this or able to shed some light?

Thanks

Vicky

I'm taking oramorph on top of the BuTrans and tramadol and it is the only thing that seems to be making any difference at the minute :S

I'm not believe it or not familiar really with the first two meds but tramadol #$%^^'s if you  genuenly have apin hun you must take the bull by the horns..this dr works for you you come in and see him and you tell him how much pain your in on a 1-10  scale and tll him what ur on the scale on those lousy pain meds and ask himif he can write something stronger/ i STILL DONT KNOW WHAT IS YOUR DIAGNOSIS IS OR IF THERE ARE MORE THAN ONE PLEASE SHARE AND I CAN TLL U WHAT yu should be on as after all my disoders Iv been on fntanyla, 15 mg oxycodone, up to 30 mg oxycodone and then for the fibro and nueralgia and neuropathy they added methadone 60 mg a day and 6 30mg oxys a day but look in my med file and noone would say im overmedicated for what i have that i told u is the tip of the iceberg i have osteoarthritis occiptal neuralgaia pinched nerve in neck and both knees need lateral release done in the next few months and i have bandage on my face from plastic surgeon who had to reconstruct my nose from skin cancer, during surgeries and iv had a few i get 12 30 mg pills a day.so tell me what u havee and ill tell u what will work and if he wont go along with upping your so ur pain free almost....start calling some good size medical facilities and ask if they have a dr on board accepting your insurance and taking new pts and it needs to be a dr who specializes in pain! All facilities have pain management or google pain management facilities near u get your records or ask them to b sent there then u can keep ur dr see a pain specialist JUST for your pain and keep ur primary care for the good old medical issues that arise with us all over the year if you like him so much? ok? i know thats a lot but let me know please if what you have is like a broken bone thats gona heal or a chronic illness thtas gonna follow u through life and your age lease?
