Introduction

Good Day to you all! I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this, so my apologies if not.
I just finished signing up here, and I wanted to say hello:).
I've been finding great advice for my problems with chronic pain management and the various drugs I've tried over the years- I finally decided that I should join after reading some great information on fentanyl patches (which is one of the medications I am on).
BTW, my condition is debilitating endometriosis.
Thank you all for reading! Again, I obviously realize this is not a question, and I do apologize if this post is not appropriate for this area. I just really wasn't sure where to start... However I have a tendency to be shy and I can certainly envision myself signing up, and then never posting. Wanted to nip that in the bud before it happened by posting right away. I'm sort of looking for some people to talk to/post with who also take fentanyl and are familiar with the various problems that can go along with it lol!
As for myself, I don't know anyone else who uses this drug – I'm assuming that is because it's so powerful.
Anyway thanks again!!

Thanks for responding! I went from Percocet to the patch years ago. I had a laparoscopy which proved I had endometriosis, but to make a long story short, the surgery was botched. Hormone therapy did nothing for me and I'm far too young for a hysterectomy – so looks like I'm in it for the long-haul.
I must say I am in much better shape than before pain management. I could not get up to play with my daughter at least two weeks out of the month because I was in so much pain. I was being treated like a druggie by my doctors and was suffering severe depression and questioning myself because of that.
I have more to say, but can't right now as I have a house full of kids lol!
Thanks to marycarmel as well:)!
More later...

Hi, and welcome.
Fentanyl is an opioid like Morphine. It is one of the "last choice" medications.
I am not a fan of pain management through narcotics, as most problems have other solutions that aren't as life devastating or body harmful.
And medication type pain management is only covering up the symptoms, not finding a solution. It should always be a last resort, when all other solutions are not achievable.
There are many issues to consider, such as: Why is hormone therapy not a treatment or was it and it was not effective? Have you already progressed through all other pain medications? What is the status of having a laproscopy or full hysterectomy?
I'm not asking you to provide any information that makes you uncomfortable. But without knowing, you may not even know what alternate options you could have which weren't made known to you.

Welcome and hope you stay tuned as others may have helpful advise for you.
My experience with Fentanyl has not been a good one but for pain management, it helped. I won't go into all the details with me but just monitor your mental facilities as this drug can take away your reasoning ability. Just take a look on line about the side effects and be aware. Educating yourself when it comes to drugs is something we all need to know and understand as the doctors do not always give details but then again, it depends on how this drug affects you and your pain management.
Keep a positive attitude and focused. Keep yourself active both mentally and physically and that should help you get through the day. Welcome again and hope the best for you.
