consistant pain

I've had pain for a yr. now. I had a biopsy done for they found a giant grape size fibriod cyst on my left breast a yr. ago. When I had my biopsy done the Dr. that did the procedure I believe was unexperienced for when he was putting in the needle he was pushing too hard and he was hitting something hard after pushing and trying to go in he was unsuccessful and told me that it was because I was too firm tha he was used to diong it to older ladies ,but I know he was probably hitting my muscle then he went in another side and this time he punchured a vein on his way in but he got to where he needed to get into. After he was done the nurse had to put pressure on my breast to stop the bleeding . By the time he was done you could compare my breasts from an orange to a grapefruit and my breast was immediately very very bruised. Ever since my biopsy on the side of the biopsy I've had pain on my back shoulder, arm, and neck and it dosen't go away with pain killers. Some days are worst than others. At night I put on a hot pad and in the mornings its alot better with slight pain but as the day goes by the pain progresses.I am afraid it will be cancer or is this because of the muscle being hurt during the procedure? Is it normal? Has any of you had the same experience?

I feel for you hun, mu daughter in law had a very similar experience happen to her.  In fact the doctor had to reinsert the biopsy needle 4 times before he got to the position he could withdraw from.  She was in horrific pain for quite sometime afterwards .. she bled and bruised badly.  When she returned 6 weeks later, she was still bruised; hmm, he seemed ashamed that he had done that to her... as he should be.

She since has changed doctors and sees a woman; the office has pain relief sessions and follow up care as Jaybay has stated.  Follow up with someone hun... pain is not something you should have to deal .. especially due to stupidity.

When was the biopsy done?  You might consider calling the docs office and asking the nurse about post-biopsy breast care and what other palliative methods you can use to get the pain under control.  You may just have enough swelling going on that it's putting pressure on a nerve and causing the shoulder, arm and neck pain.  Nerve pain is notoriously difficult to treat, but if you can get the swelling under control, it should go away.

I haven't had a biopsy myself, but my sister and another friend had a similar experience to yours.  It took a couple weeks for everything to calm down.
