The new Oxycontin was giving me severe reflux/ulcer symptoms. I had to get off of it with in 2 months of the switch. It seemed like it was eating a hole in my stomach. It worked fine for pain control, it's the side effects that were extremely bothersome. I switched to MS Contin and doing a lot better. No more reflux/ulcer symptoms. MS Contin works well for me.
Hi, I have heard that many people taking the "new" oxy's are also having digestive problems. Apparantly there is some type of coating on them so you can not"liquify" them. This seems to be very hard on peoples stomaches. As if they don't have enough problems as it is.
I was on oxy 80 oc since 2004 but when they changed to op they did not work from making me sick, memory lose etc
No difference but again we are all made up differently. Talk to your doctor am sure he /she will find your question interesting. Good Luck..
Hi Denaqueenbee,
I am not sure what you mean by "adverse effects." An adverse drug reaction means "an undesirable and unintentional effect caused by a drug administered at the normal therapeutic dose." I haven't heard anyone report an adverse reaction...however there are some reports that claim the new formula is less effective.
I have not noted a difference although some members have noted their doses are not as effective as it was prior to the formula change. Manufacturers claim the change was only to make it abuse proof....that does not seem to be the case for everyone.
Peace,
~Tuck
I too have noticed a significant reduction in effectiveness. I will be trying something different next month because of this new formula. Also they went up quite a bit and was already expensive to begin with!
If you continue to have problems you may need to speak to your Doctor about alternative treatments. There are other time release medications you can try.
I have read on several CP websites that many are experiencing WD like issues with the new med and feeling of not adequate pain control.
My best suggestion is if you are having issue with the med is to contact your prescribing doctor and let them be aware-if its a something severe you can also contact Purdue as they have a complaint forum and the FDA does also-Purdue requires you to contact pharm and get lot and ID# for meds to list with complaint.
If you google this you will find you are not the only one by far. This new formulation(by reading info on Purdues site was actually tested on opiate naive patients no one had CP which I find odd)
Hope you get things sorted out soon-I would start with the prescribing doctor-he probably wont be suprised to hear it.JMHO.
I dont know of a new formula?? what new formula are u talking about??
