Past ortho, past me of on PM I have had xrays, and mri's. noone will give me any more scripts for physical therapy says it wont help. I am doing healing touch. looking into medical massage,a nd acupuncture . just changed meds today to percocet 10 , robaxin, and trazadone i dont know if these will help i was just taking loritab ,10 ambien. 10  getting  about 1 hr sleep on ambien ha! / due to muscle spasms  pm put me on robaxin? i have been through every muscle relaxent except valium and soma helps the best but of course he said he wouldnt presribe it yet.
no nurotin, lyrica, ot anything of that nature works for me I beleieve they are called neuropathis drugs.

Occlusal appliance (night Guard) may help relieve chronic upper shoulder, neck, orofacial pain.Seeing a tmj specialist is advised.

If the Percocet isn't helping and it's making you constipated, stop it.  No sense taking it.  You would probably be better off with Advil and Tylenol then.  I think you should go to another doctor or a clinic.  Then find another PM doctor.  This one sounds terrible.  Maybe even try the ER and they can give you something.

Finally anurse from the Pain management clinic called me back.... she said even though the new script percocet wasn't helping and I was having side effects.
I had to at least wait unitll the 2 week mark to change to amother ( past) perscription.
she said that is the ruled and bilaws or what not of there PM clinic. I think its BS.
Loritab ( hydrocodone) codeiene and something acetompiniphin mybe.
I will insist they change me back ~ but I have to wait in pain and with constipation, naseu, and vertigo- or with just PAIN untill they can offically see me.
I dont understand the big deal they insist I bring all the prior meds so they can crush them but do not reimburse you for $ you have spent on the meds.  ( which is fine because I am not abusing them )
I just dont like it that I have to pay for these meds pay for more meds pay for another copay to see dr. and I just paid a copay for the dr. n the 3rd.
Its not right i dont know the word for it/ but Its not right!

HAS ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE HAD LUCK WITH LORITABS AND NO LUCK WITH PERCOCET
PERCOCET HAS OXY IN IT ITS NOT LIKE I WANT TO BE ON A STRONGER DRUG ~ IDK
ON TOP OF THAT MY DR. REFUSE TO WRITE SCRIPTS FOR MUSCLE SPASM/TIGHTNESS AND PAINPILLS
WHATS THE DEAL?????

I don't know what Loitab is but if it helped you more, insist that you would like to go back to that.  I don't take pain meds very often but I know I can't take percocet because is makes me nauseous.  But if this doctor won't even answer the phone, maybe it's time to try someone else.

I appreciate, your responses, and concerns..... I will try all that is mentioned above.
Can anyone tell me why when my scrpit was changed from 4 loritab 10 per day to 3 percocet 10 per day.
I was one getting some pain relief with the 4 loritabs and now I am getting no relief with the percocets...?
I have tried to call the dr. 3 times this morning but no answer.  I am going to try to get switched back then maybe ween off from there.
The roboxin is a joke I think I am having more m/spasms and tightness.
I wanna cry.

Cindee55 has given you some really good advice.  I can hear the desperation in your writing, and I recognize it because I've been there myself, so here is what I've done and learned over the years.

1.)  Stop looking for relief from a pill, because it isn't going to happen.  Many times medical science cannot fix what ails us.  It's not the doctor's fault.  The knowledge just isn't here yet, so how we live from this point onward is of our choosing.

2.)  Accept that you're going to be dealing with pain for a long time to come, and maybe the rest of your life.  Use that acceptance as a starting point for your new life that YOU get to define.

3.)  Once you accept item 2.) you can start mentally dealing with long-term chronic pain. That means seeing a pain psychologist and learning the mental tricks that really do help if you're open to it.

4.)  Keep doing the physical therapy exercises no matter who tells you they won't help.  Anything you can do to build up your muscles will help because it takes the pressure off your bones from doing all the work of supporting your body.  I know it works.  I've done it myself when the doctors said nothing would help.  And it wasn't PT, nor yet sanctioned by a doctor.  I hired a personal trainer and lifted weights.  No more neck pain since 1998 after 2 neck surgeries, fusions and hardware.

5.) Get in a pool as often as you possibly can.  You'll be amazed at how much pain melts away when the water takes all that gravity off your body.

5.) Start weaning yourself off some of the meds you're on.  You've already said ambien only gets you an hour of sleep, so why take it?  Surely you can get an hour's sleep without it?  Topomax is a drug similar to neurontin.  These meds are used to treat nerve-related pain, but they don't always work.  If it isn't working, don't take it.  Honestly, you're on such a huge cocktail of meds right now, it's hard to tell what may be helping what isn't.  If your meds are prescribed by more than one doctor, it's time to get all the docs on the same page with what you're taking, because the combination could be making things worse than they need to be.  If they're all prescribed by one doctor, I'd be surprised, because it sounds way over-the-top even to me.

6.)  DO keep looking into alternative treatments like massage and accupuncture.  Just like medicines, sometimes these treatments help and sometimes they don't.  You won't know until you try.

7.) Concentrate on #3.  That was the most important, and effective issue for me anyway.  :-)

I am so sorry you are going through this.  You are too young to be in such pain.  I have a lot of pain issues and arthritis, back and neck problems and such but I am much older than you are.

I don't know really what to tell you that you probably haven't tried, but I can say that in my experience with doctors, if I don't like one or feel he's not helping, I keep looking for another.  If your PM doctor is not helping, try to find another one.  Is there a large university, maybe a teaching hospital near you?  They usually have good people and are doing research so they know the latest stuff.  Maybe see a rheumatologist.  Also, have you tried things like accupuncture, massage therapy, aqua therapy?  I know it can get expensive, but it's worth a try.  I am thinking of trying accupuncture myself.

For the sleep meds and depression, get a good psychiatrist, if you don't already have one.  They can be an invaluable help.  There is an anti-depressant called Cymbalta, a newer one, which is supposed to help with chronic pain as well as anxiety and depression.  There are tons of different drugs, you need a doctor who is very knowledgeable about the meds.  Personally, I don't like ambien, it's addictive and you are right, it doesn't last.  Have you tried Lunesta?  My husband takes that with good results.  It's not as addictive as ambien either and he doesn't get that drowsy all day feeling from it.

As far as exercise, can you find a pool?  When I hurt, the warm water is soothing and you can lightly swim or walk in the water for some movement.  Also, a recumbent bike that supports your back might be something you can do.  I have neck pain and bad knees and I do both of these.  At least it's something.

I will pray for you.  I hope you find something to help you, but don't give up!  There are good doctors out there, you just have to find them.

I will be carefull with ambien although i only get about 1-3 hr sleep when i take a 10 mg pill.  its awfull. I am moving on to trazadone.   WT he** ????
I have tried zannaflex,  no help.  lyrica- thunderclap headaches and vertigo.
( i forgot to mention i take phenegran prn for vertigo and nauseau as well)
Neurotin practically the same side effects as the lyrica.
WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS~ what should i do????  ask for as far as meds go?
( i know your not dr's but i am def. getting the run around and spending way to much $$$$- I just want help- and advice )

PM wanted to put me on fentanyl patch but i occassionally do have to drive i do have drs app. what seems like all the time. I do have to go to vet, grocery, walmart etc.

Huspand works 90 hrs easy per week.  sister with child taking care of sick huspand, mother school and work full time, father not in picture.
I was hesitant not only b/c PM said I wouldn't be able to drive or do many daily activities that we all HAVE to do regardless of pain. But b/c of the recall and overdose's associate with them.

I think I was actually getting more relief from the 4 loritab 10's per day then the 3 percocets per day but it is to soon to tell i guess.  I am having muscle stiffness, and spasm. PM hesitate to persribe soma the only muscle relaxant that has every worked for me..... i have tried all of them but 1 other and idk name starts with N........ hementioned it before he put me on Robaxin. I told him this yesterday as we went through a list.( I AM WEIRD OR MY BODY IS WEIRD WHEN IT COMES TO MEDS SINCE MY HEAD INJURY)
I have experimented with all neurologic type drugs with my neuro.  HE ACTUALLT DOES UNDERSTAND- DOES LISTEN. I thought I wasnt happy untill my recent visit to 3-4 other doctors and wow i was pushed in and out and my family was given a hard time when attending even when i signed a release. ( my neuro is soooo good to me i drive 40 miles each way to see him but now i realize how good he really is)

Medic~ do you know anyhting about total motion release???? It is a type of therapy where they work the unaffected side of your body to help the effected side.
PT who did not dicharge me but told me she did not think she couldhelp me since I was already in my 9th wk with little to know results reffered me. but 3 different ortho's ( with 3 differeent opinions on my MRI) and my PM will not send me there BS huh. I am just searching for some kind of help!

Pain control and muscle spasm control I do sometime have tremors. where i am just lying and i twitched neuro knows but PM really doesnt give a **** i dont think.

I listen to guided imagry for PTSD and pain relief, I use and tens unit and a theracane heat pads, ortho pedic earth shoes,
Last night I was in the tub at midnight trying to relieve spasms in neck upper trap and legs- even after robaxin.

I am so sad, chronically depressed and disabled I want some of a life back I want to excercise,  plaant flowers, rake leaves,  even mow grass all the things i disregarded as being precious
before now that i cant!

WILL someone PLease tell me some kinda advice that has been unsuccefull with meds, and other pain relief, or therapy.
or any inspiring stories or any thing would be great!
If you pray to god please pray for me!  I need it i feel so alone!
Thank you~

Hello,
I have RSD and it's no fun.  I was diagnosied in July 07 after getting hurt at work.  Something that may help you with your problems and help you get to sleep is a drug called Zanaflex.  It's a muscle relaxer that is also used to treat MS patients as well as those of us that have RSD.   I use it for the tingling and muscle spasms on my left side.  You don't have to have RSD to use it.  If you have RSD your doctor will need to put you on Lyrica or Gabapentin this will also help you.  I hope this helps you.. God Bless... Susie

Please be careful with the ambien.  I think that is the most dangerous drug out there.  When I was taking it, I would drive in my sleep and almost killed myself.  By the grace of God alone, I wasn't injured or anyone else.  Please think about something other than ambien.  Even though it is non-narcotic, it is evil
