Pain in right arm... anyone know what this could be?

Hello everyone. I'm a 25 year old male. About 3 months ago I started having pain on the inside of my right forearm, up near the elbow. I'm active in martial arts and weight lifting, so my initial thought was tendonitis. However, I went to my primary care physician and he said he didn't know what was causing my pain, but that it didn't seem to him like tendonitis. He referred me to a specialist, but I have to wait until next week for that appointment. Since then I have been inactive and tried not to use the arm at all, but the pain has persisted and not gone away at all. Now the part of the forearm where I've had the pain is beginning to swell up, whereas I used to have just pain there, now it is becoming swollen. Three months and now improvement! I only feel the pain when I put pressure on the arm(if I try to push on something, etc.) Anyone know what this could be? Thanks for the help.

Try Googleing Complex Regional Pain Syndrome or Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome (CRPS / RSDS); check several different web sites, and see if any of the other symptoms fit.

One other thought, if you think you are supporting your mouse-arm and the pain does not go away - then you are not actually supporting your arm. That is the rule. I have had people show me how they are supporting their arm and the pain persists. But I don't need to see how you do it. I just know that if the pain persists you are not supporting your arm.

It is that simple. You need complete support in order to heal. After the pain goes away, you can get away with some non-support. But the pain may return and then you need to support the arm and give it a rest - a long rest.

I have bouts of pain in my right arm. The arm that operates the mouse on my computer. Sometimes the pain will last for weeks. The pain is so bad, it wakes me up at night. Then I got smart and started supporting my mouse-arm.

To get rid of the pain I have to completely support my mouse-arm. It may take a week for the pain to subside, but it works. I notice each day that the pain decreases and after about a week, the pain is gone. I see other people enduring the same pain and they deny that a little mouse could cause that much discomfort. They will switch hands and operate the mouse with the other hand because the doctor told them to do that. That may be a good idea, but ultimately, you need to support the mouse-arm. I have seen nurses in hospitals with the same pain. Guess what - no arm support. But you can not tell them. I see people at work that are in a lot of pain. They are doing therapy once a week for the pain. That may be good, but they need to suppor the mouse-arm.

If you don't know how to support your mouse-arm, then you had better figure that out. The arm needs complete rest to heal and get better. You can actually heal while you are using a mouse. But the arm needs support in order to get the rest it needs. Don't let anyone else tell you how to support your arm. You need to see how you are using your arm and get it on the desk and let it rest. I sit at a desk that is forms the letter "L". I sit right in the middle and let each part of the desk support one arm. Right now I am in a lot of pain and that is why I am writing this. I got careless and did not support my mouse-arm. But when the pain returns, I go right back to complete arm support. And the pain will diminish each day.
