Piriformus muscle?

Why can't I get any answers about the piriformis muscle? This muscle is real and the pain associated with it is real but can I get some type of an answer on this issue. Seems my questions are being ignored but is that really the answer or treatment for something that is real?

I have researched doctors who treat this piriformis muscle, and found new doctors who have been educated in this area finally! Have talked with many doctors who agree this area of treatment has been ignored by the medical community for many reasons but finally the medical community has recognized these areas of pain management and NOW many doctors have now recognized areas of muscles that have been ignored for stupid reasons and lack of education in this area.
My acupuncture doctor told me he has just received training in this area and that many doctors are now being educated to TREAT muscles that were 'unknown' or debated. About time!!!
Down with the drugs and start the education process for the health of the patient!

If it is of any notice, I had a Botox injection to the piriformis muscle and the pain level is DOWN to a tolerable level and I can walk again for the first time in YEARS!!!!! Started doing my Pilates back program to strengthen the muscles I haven't used in YEARS and it feels good to actually be able to feel like I can move on with my life and put some of these pain levels behind me, so to speak. Don't need a spinal cord stimulator or drugs, just muscle relaxers to help with the tight muscles but that is the only drugs I need now and I can tell pain management, I am moving on with my life.
Feels good to NOT be dependent on these doctors. Found new pain management doctors are actually treating the piriformis muscle and other muscles that have not been recognized by the pain management community. Have done some research and found doctors locally that are treating these issues with EDUCATED acknowledgement of muscles they have not treated in YEARS and will say IT IS ABOUT TIME! Very tied of going to a doctor who does not know how to treat these issues and only prescribes drugs to dope up the pain. Don't need the doped up drugs anymore!!!!
Moving on with my life and actually started doing Pilates stretching program. I have used this program many years ago and benefited from it. Was once a professional dancer and this program helped keep my body in shape. Now I am using this program to be able to just walk again and I am succeeding...!!!
Feels good to just be able to walk again and not depend on an electric wheelchair to get me around.
Just feels so good again to get the pain levels down to a reasonable level so I can move in with my life...WHAT A CHRISTMAS PRESENT...!

Well I have 'lived' in Long Beach since my discharge from the Navy. I had many a happy memory here and that is one reason why I stayed. Met my second wife here, married and had 5 of the happiest years of my life here. Stayed here because I liked my job. Never got involved with politics until it affected me presently with health issues. Of course, no one thinks of this at that time. I have had a lot of treatment outside of LB because the hospitals were only helping me with pain issues and drugs but I really wanted to find out what was causing my pain so I went to specialist outside of the area for answers.
Years later, with politics affecting my health issues, LB has become somewhat disappointing to me and I am making plans or should I say dreams of moving. Since I have no family I need to be around family that can care for me, hence another reason for the move. Don't know what to expect but up for the challenge. Why not? Something different, right? Will keep you all posted.

Finally getting some treatment for this piriformis muscle. Getting a Botox injection to help calm down and paralyze this damned nerve that has been bothering me all these years. Trigger point injections that I received recently have helped and maybe NOW I can return to my Pilates for exercise that I have missed all these years. Looking forward to old treatments (Pilates) that have worked for me and hopefully the last time I see this PM Doctor. Researching new doctors and getting my records. Done with this pm doctor!

Thanks for the facts and your cynicism is well taken. I had one doctor tell me...if they can't see it or touch it, it doesn't exist and I am starting to believe that. I have done research on line and I see where the piriformis muscle does exist but they recommend stretching which I cannot do. I have been to physical therapy for this 12 times and each time I wind up in more pain and they recommend I return to my doctor for treatment. So far, treatment has been unsuccessful and now a spinal cord stimulator is recommended but I am not so sure the SCS will deal with the problem but I may have no other choice. I was told that I had my steroid shots for the year and cannot receive another one till Dec. They recommend morphine with breakthrough pain medication. I am not there for the drugs, they are not always effective. Make sense out of this...they dope me up for a month before they can treat me with a shot...? Just frustrated with trying to get answers but I will continue to keep up my research. At least there I get 'intelligent' answers...! Pardon my cynicism...?
