They usually give you a sealed container, and when you twist of the top, a little sticker will rip open. They also have you write your name on the label.
This is very important.
When the nurse begins the procedure of your urine test she will ask you what time you took your meds and if you have taken anything that has not been prescibed by the doctor.
At this point you need to be totally honest! If you have taken something not prescibed now is the time to speak up. Make sure you are accurate with the times you last took your medications.
Then she will give you a urine sample cup. At this point make sure the cup has your name and info on it already. After giving her the sample you should then initial the cup and the forms stating what you took and what time. She should then seal the whole container and paperwork in front of you.
This will ensure that is your sample and not someone else's.
Be very diligent in following these procedures as they will ensure that your sample is correct because as we all know here if a sample gets mistakenly put in and the results put in your file it is impossible to fix the mistake.
If you have taken any over the counter meds make sure you tell them.
From previous drug testing that I have gone through with employer, which I don't see would be any different with the Doctor is as follows:
The nurse will give you a clean cup, fill the toilet with a solution to verify that the urine temp is correct when you pee the rest in the toilet, Make sure that all bag have been left outside the room.
Some testers will actually go into the bathroom with you.
They then mark the cup with your name and patient # right in fromt of you and you must then verify the info.
Hope this helps,
Molly
