OK... Thanks that helps me to understand better.
I am one of the people it doesn't work for unfortunately.
I had maybe 3 hrs of pain relief.
Thanks for getting back to me.

Hello Hakensak, sorry i didn't get back with you sooner, I'm not online on the weekends usually. Bio-availability mean how much of the medication si actually absorbed by your body. many people are different, some people think its a wonder drug, other people, it doesn't help at all.
Hello, I was reading what you said about the Opana. I* am having problems with this med also. Think I wrote back to you already from an earlier comment from the other day.
What is Bio Availablitiy mean?
I have been struggling to find a medicine that works well for severe back pain.
I am 42 and had a total hip replacement 2006 that was recalled and needed a 2nd Revision surgery. Now my back is Totaly screwed up and I have had chronic severe pain since 2-2012. My revision was done 12-1-2011.
Thanks in advance for any info you may have about the Opana.
Jod, good luck today at your appointment today! Let us know how it goes. 8-)
Thank you Ellen for your reply,

Hi Trixy and thank you for your comment,I am to be frank it puts me off as well!!! I was first on short acting meds than was switched to 10mg methadone tablets for just under 12 years and it did work great, recently I did'nt think it was working @100mg daily it lasted for at least 18-20 hours but I asked to be switched which now I know was a mistake!I was put on @first 60mg of mscontin 4x a day then 100mg 3x aday, iwas then on opana er 40mg 3x aday and this stuff surely does'nt work for me that is what I told my pm doctor on my last visit he asked me if I wanted to go back on methadone and since hes a P.A. he had to talk quikly with m original pm doc his boss who told him to tell me to go onto the pain pump!
I have an appt tommorrow with my pain management group and i do'nt want to get a pump and I really don't want to stay on this opana, basically I do not know what to tell him tommorrow to get him to put me back on the first medication that now I know worked a heck of a lot better than anything so far?
Warm Regards

My Dr has wanted me to get a pain pump for over a year now. I don't like the idea of a foreign body surgically implanted in me. The side effects sound serious and I wouldn't get it until I exhausted all other options. Really look into it carefully before you commit to it. Best of luck making your decision.
Hi Jod, what other meds have you tried? Opana is one of those things where people love it or hate it. I think part of the reason why it may not work for some people is the bio-availability of it, i think i read its like only 10%-15%. but on the other hand some people it works great for. I think maybe it might be a good idea to try something else before going with the pain pump, but that's just me, i would want the pump to be a last resort. Good luck to you.
