It is possible that the bone spurs ( osteophytes ) have grown into an area that when you are doing anything that uses that area can pinch a nerve or cause problems with the muscles, ligaments and decrease movement. I would suggest going back to your dr and getting a new mri. If it is bone spurs they can operate and remove them if it is serious enough. They can also give cortisone shots, medication to reduce swelling and relax muscles. and physical therapy. I hope this was helpful. Best wishes, Sissie
I also can't sleep due to my back/leg pain. My only advice is to see a specialist, since you have already had MRI's, etc. Maybe a physiatrist would be a good starting point (not psychiatrist). Maybe there is something new happening that the doctors were not aware of before. You have to be proactive with this, or else nothing will be done to help you in most cases. "The squeaky wheel gets the grease"! Most spine experts believe that getting exercise is one of the best things to do for a "bad back", it doesn't seem so in your case, from what you have written. Maybe that's a good first clue for them? Good Luck,
