Subutex for severe pain?

I have been taking Subutex for 8 years, 4 mg a day for RA. My problem with Subutex is when I have extreme pain my standard dosage does not help at all. I was wondering if I doubled the dosage in cases like this if it would help. An example is I have been in the hospital x2 with severe chest pains and no way to get relief. I know most of you are not doctors but wondered if you have taken more than prescribed for higher pain levels?

NEVER take more of a medication than is prescribed! Doing so put you at risk of respiratory suppression , overdose, and death. It is also abuse of a prescribed medication and will result in an abrupt dismissal by your doctor and likely being refused treatment by another doctor for pain.
Overdose can and does occur with subutex just like any other opiate.
If you require something more for extreme pain you need to discuss that with your physician and let him determine what you should do.
