Taper off Pain Pills

I'm tapering off pain pills under a Doctors care. Anyone doing the same? Long term opioid use just doesn't make sense. My body is developing a tolerance & the original prescribed dose isn't working for me any longer. Who feels the same way I feel ? Pamela

Hi Suzanne. You are Remarkable. So down to 10 mg pr day. How long do you plan to stay at that level, if you don't mind me asking.

I am proud of you that you are doing this! I on the other hand not so lucky. I have been taking norco 10 for the last 4 years and I am ashamed to say but when I built up a tolerance for them, I was taking 30 plus a day! I am now tapering off hard, I have only taken 10 mg today and doing fine. Please keep up the good work! It is important to stay on track. This stuff is not the answer!

Thanks for sharing!  I'm weaning from oxycodone 30mg was taking two every 3hrs n cut it to 1 every 3 hours for last two days!  Feeling good with that and waiting to hear what the next step is from my Dr.  How long do I stay here before cutting dose again?  Looking forward to getting off them.

Hi Sadie. I'm happy to share w you. Norco 10/325   (325 is the Tylenol )
Was taking 10 mg every 4 hours. Except it got to every 3 hrs & sometimes
1 1/2 pill (15 mg).
Now I'm on Day 6 of 30 mg pr day. 5 mg every 3 hrs. I got a little careless one day, so I must cut the pills in 1/2 & put them in my pill carrier so I don't miss my target. It's easy to forget + you feel cravings. Pamela

I too have been on pain meds and have build up,a tolerance to them!  I had a hysterectomy 2 weeks ago today and have a message to my Dr. To taper off.  Can I ask how they are tapering your meds and what u take?
