Why would some pain meds , not really help or actually cause pain to be worse ?

I've wondered for quite a while why a pain med may not help me at all or actually cause the pain to become worse ... If anyone has any info or advice please comment . Thanks

I've taken Norco , for id say the last 6 yrs . Its prescribed 4 times a day , and with my RA and neuro muscular disease , that's how I take it . But as I've said it at times really makes the pain worse or causes it . I haven't understood why for a long time .

if you have taken an opiate pain medication for a long time it can cause opiate induced hyperalgesia,  which does make the pain feel worse

Pink - what pain med are we talking about , and what dosing are you taking.

How has the doctor prescribed the medication, and how are you taking the medication?
