Hi Tuck,
How do you put pants on if you can't cross your legs? I'm having trouble dressing now. I can't beed to reach down to get the pant leg on so I was sitting in a chair and was able to cross the one leg over my knee and got one side of the pant on then lifted or crossed the other. I can't even remember now. But I didn't have a problem before. This is a different injury than the original It was when (I felt a tear about 4 monhts ago, not by the SI, and more to the mid buttock and pyriformis) and I'm going to see my doctor in a week and a half to update him . I'll probably get another back and a hip MRI. It is hard to figure out all that is going on. But I think I probably either have something out like the SI plus some nerve involvement as I feel like needles sticking me sometimes in that area. Most of the time it is more dull or very sharp like and ice pick depending on the day or if it is"out" or I have pull what ever it is. I am open to anything at this point. But I want a doctor to diagnose not a PT this time. None of the doctors have said SI yet but that doesn't mean it isn't that. It is frustrating not being able to do simple things as I am sure you are aware. Thanks for listening.

As you know I have SIJD. There are not a lot of diagnosed SIJD members to my knowledge.
According to my PMP, former Physical Therapist and Neurosurgeon patients with SIJD should refrain from crossing their legs. The position is not conducive to good alignment for most any spine, hip SIJ or similar problems. Crossing my leg (either side) causes increased pain to the point that I no longer even think about doing so.
I cannot guess what injury may have made crossing your leg painful. It's just not a recommended position for any one with spinal, hip or SIJ problems.
If the recent MRIs of your spine have been negative there doesn't seem to be a good reason to repeat one. I would follow the recommendations of your ortho or neuro physicians. SIJD is difficult to diagnosis. A spine or even a hip MRI is not normally a useful diagnostic tool for SIJD. However if you don't have SIJD they may offer other clues.
I hope you will be successful in finding reasons and treatments for your painful symptoms. It took me years to obtain a diagnosis and I know how frustrating it can be.
Best of Luck,
~Tuck
