chondromalacia patella

my husband is 35 and has suffered with chondromalacia patella for 12 years what could be done to help him as he is in constant pain despite being on oxy contin

yes he's seen 3 orthopedic surgeons none of them seem to think anything apart from pain management. he had a femeral block done 2 years ago which if anything left him in agony instead of relieving his pain. nowadays he's in constant pain 24 /7.

Has he seen an orthopedic surgeon for this problem?  They generally prefer to hold off on surgery until it's pretty bad, but that sounds like where your husband is at now.  The bumpy cartilage under the patella can be evened up to allow for smoother movement with less pain, and can be done arthroscopically.  It wouldn't surprise me if he has a pretty good case of arthritis going too after all these years of dealing with the injury.  That alone may be causing some of the pain.
