chronic pain

the pain clinic I use is a miserable place. the staff, receptionists nurses are very adversarial.  They act as if I am bothering them and it takes forever to get a return phone call.

I've been using morphine and fentenal for 2 years and my neck pain is getting worse.

They did mri and said it didn't show anything that would give me the pain I was having: numbness, shooting pain up and down my arm and it feels like I have a knife in my left shoulder blade.

The insurance co. says I don't need a Radio frequency ablation and I don't know what to do.

All I do is lay on my bed all day using ice and drugs.  I am very depressed and have NO life, i call my girlfriend but don't want to leave my apt.

Does anyone have some advice?

sincerely, me

I am also deeply sorry for the pain you are having to endure without a diagnosis.  I don't know if you feel comfortable posting your MRI results but I would love to read them.  It sounds like you are having radiculopathy from an issue with your spine.  Another possibility if your MRI shows no disc related problems, is myofascial pain syndrome (severe muscular pain).  I have this condition as well as various issues going on with my spine.  Triggerpoint injections can be very helpful for this type of pain.  Are you taking any other medication for pain other than the morphine and fentanyl?

Hi I am so sorry for your pain.  I do not know what you can do other than seek another doctors opinion.  If I had the pain I believe I would go to a neuro surgeon and take all of your records to see if he/she could help you.
Good luck to you

Ask your doctor about a nerve study. research another pain clinic with ones that believe in pain and will take time to diagnose.
