hand pain

So, i have had severe pain in my left hand on my side for about a couple months now. It goes on and off. It hurts when i type, but especially when i lean on it, it get extreme pain shot through it. Any help on what it could be?

Thank you for commenting on this, and yes that is what I meant by side of my hand. I am going to contact my doctor to see if this could be carpel tunnel or something else. Thank you again!

Welcome to our Pain Mangement Forum at MedHelp. I am glad that you have found us but sorry to hear about your pain.

I an assuming that when you say :on my side" you mean the side of your hand?? If not please correct me. There are a number of conditions that can effect your hand. The most common given your symptoms may be carpel tunnel. There are also different locations in the area that tendonitis can effect.

NSAID's (unless contraindicated) and RICE, rest, ice, compression (wrap) and elevation may help until you are able to see your PCP. Only a physician can determine what the true source of your pain.
