help with back pain not able to take narcotics

well just to sum up my story. I have been clean 3 plus weeks now.  It all started with back problems which brings me to my question.
I have disc degenerative disease on my L4 and L5 along with some bony deposits.  also on my L1 and L2 I have stenosis, or better known as narrowing of the spinal column.  I also may be in the early stages of psoratic arthritus, which is similiar to rheumatoid.  (yeah my spelling is bad)
Here is my problem.  I am in severe pain today and have been the past couple of days.  I have been taking aleve, 800mg of advil.  Nothing seems to help like narcotic pills did.
So my question is WHAT else is out there to use.  For instance today it has been so bad I can hardly walk.  I just started back up with some PT and I am trying to lose weight.  I just need some positive insight that I can and will be able to live with this pain without pills.
I am not craving them at all and I am doing great emotionally, but when the pain gets this bad the relief from them is all I can think about.

There are doctors that specialize in addiction and TREATMENT OF PAIN! I think it's wonderful that there are doctors that do this. Do you think that maybe you could look into that?

hi, I was but on a Fentenal patch because I abused pain meds for a really bad back. I found out yesterday my back is worse then originally diagnosed. This patch is the most poetent mgs you can get and it barely puts a dent in the pain. Perhaps you can talk to your MD to see if it is right for you.

I am getting frustrated.  I was a moron and abused the pain meds, so now I have crossed that line that I cant go back.  But at the same time the only thing that offers me real relief is narcotics.
This is not everyday, for example yesterday was bad.  After 800mg of advil I was feeling zero relief, could hardly walk.  It is just so depressing to not be able to move like I use to.  When I took the narcotics I could function.

After trying everything else, I tried "Trigger Point Therapy Workbook: your self-treatment guide for pain relief ." by Claire Davies. I actually was able to get more relief than from anything else. (Steroid inj, rhizotomy, facet inj. chiro) I am going to PT again and have found an amazing PT. She was actually impressed with my results. Like I have told everyone else, it may just be in my head, but as long as I feel better, I don't care. When I start having pain, I massage the trigger points and it gives me almost instant relief. I do still take some pain meds too, so I'm not sure how well it would work alone.
