never happened before

I am on percocet 10mg for the past 7 years for chronic back pain.  For the first time in 7 years my pills were stolen along with my pocketbook and money.  It was almost a full bottle 88 pills.  Now what I called the police and have a complaint ticket.  Will my doctor give me a new prescription, will my pharmacy fill it, and will my insurance company pay for it?

I have the same deal as troubleinohio.  I signed a contract stating I will not get any early refills, even if I were robbed and they were stolen.  As soon as I come home I lock them up in the safe.  Each day I only take out what I need for the day.  I rarely take them with me when I leave as I will not usually be gone for more then a couple hours.  When I do, I leave them hidden in the car when I'm out in a public place.  I hate carrying my medications around.

wow im surprised how many of you can get meds replaced. When i was still using pills, i had to sign contracts stating I am fully responsible for anything that happened to my meds! Didnt matter if they got stolen, house burnt down, truck ran over them, elephant smashed them! Did not matter! The pain clinic i went to made everyone sign those contracts as did my PCP when he was still RX'ing for me instead.

You have to be 'VERY' careful about carrying your meds when out.

In many States it's illegal to carry your prescription medication in any other container than the one the medication was dispensed in by your pharmacy.

Crazy yes I know, then you run the risk of either losing or having your meds stolen while you are out somewhere.

I know this is a fact as I know people who have been charged with this very thing.

Insurance will most likely cover it if the doctor calls in or writes a new Rx rather than just refilling the existing one. I have had this happen years ago and had no problem. I really think it depends on your insurance company. As Sandee said, if the Rx was only for 90 pills and especially if you use a generic, it shouldn't be that much if you do have to pay out of pocket. And yes, it is also a good idea to only carry a small amount with you when you are out due to situations just like this! I learned my lesson a long time ago!

Good luck, I hope it all works out.

I am sorry this happened to you as well.
Most PM doctors will refill once for situations like this but only once. The pharmacy will also refill it but the insurance will not pay for it and you will have to pay cash. It should not be that much for 90 pills.

Hell Reremamore,

I am so sorry that this happened to you. You did the right thing by reporting them stolen to law enforcement. You physician should refill it as should the pharmacy. If you insurance company will pay remains to be seen. Usually they will not regardless of the circumstances.

About 2 years ago while out of state and in a crowd I had a bottle stolen out of my purse. I never carry a full bottle on me and they got away with about twenty pills. I carry a bottle labeled by my pharmacy with what is in it, etc. But it is dangerous to carry all your meds on you. At any rate my physician ordered a refill early, the pharmacy refilled it but my insurance company would not pay for it.

Good luck to you. I doubt you will have any problems with a police report. Please let us know how it turns out.

Take Care,
Tuck
