right side neck pain

Hello!
I am a 37 years old male.
i was sitting today, and suddenly had a neck pain from the right side of the neck.
i feel it when i turn my head or tilt itto the right. knowing that the pain wasnt there when i woke up or anything. and by the evening time, it is worse...im not feeling it if i am in comfortable sitting positing, but if i press with my fingers to the middle of my neck , i'll feel the pain.
what could this be?
i have been very depressed and suffered an anxiety attack last sunday + i have quit smoking 3 days ago.

And, you can ice every 2 hours throughout the day. The best advice I ever got was to ice. When I asked my doc how often I should ice (thinking he was going to say "about twice a day"), he said "all day long! every 2 hours." Man that really works! I have 4 of those blue cloth-style ice packs I keep in the freezer, and I rotate them.

Congratulations on quitting smoking. This is an important step in taking charge of your health, but has the potential to cause a great deal of anxiety during the next 30 days.

Anxiety can both tense muscles and amplify pain.

What was on your mind when you felt the neck pain, suddenly?

Do you think the pain is anxiety related?

Try icing your neck for 15 minutes once or twice an hour, and warm, moist heat at other times. Support your neck with a pillow or rolled-up towel until the pain passes.
