hello there!

i actually got my procedure bumped up to today!  i had my wisdoms out, just a local, no big deal at all!  didn't hurt at all.  i'm sitting here about 12 hours later, nursing an ice pack on my face, no real bad, no swelling, feeling good.  my jaw is a bit sore but doing really good so far!  honestly i worried for nothing it was a piece of cake.  :D  you will be fine!

I am having all four of mine out in the morning.  One came through the gum line last week.  I am scared to death.  I have a major fear of dentists.  Anyway, my biggest concern is will they even be able to help me with any pain management with my current pain medication baseline what it is?  Also I broke my pinkie toe tonight and OMG it is hurting so bad which really makes me worry about tommorrow.
I just switched to a long acting med last week.  I was just on short acting oxycodone and now I am on the Fentanyl patch but just a 25mcg which I am almost sure is not going to cover that additional pain.
I will check in tomorrow.
I'll give you what info I can after that.
Good luck

Make sure the dentist has seen x-rays before he extracts the tooth.  I don't know if they have to be this month's x-rays, but he needs to know what the roots are in before he pulls it.  I heard about a dentist who tried to pull a tooth without taking x-rays first and it caused major damage.  If he had known the roots were up in the sinus cavity, he would have sent the patient to a specialist.

If it isn't impacted, the extraction shouldn't be a big deal.  As long as your dentist takes his time and goes easy, you should get through it with minimal discomfort.  Also ask your dentist if he can use some nitrous along with the local.  It really does help - especially with keeping your nerves under control.  Good luck!
