Is it common for a 12 year to masturbate

I think my son is masturbating . I was cleaning his room and picking up clothes and tissues under his bed . Isn't he too young to me masturbating ?

Perfectly normal. I was 13 when I started. It startled me when I ejaculated for the the first time. I masturbated on a regular basis after that

Masturbation is a common human trait. It is not wrong or inappropriate as long as he's not doing it in front of other people or ejaculating on ur coffee table I'm not sure why you're so hung up on what your child's doing to their body when he is safe and alone? Wouldn't you rather him masturbate than to Be having sex? Many children either boy's or girls start way before 12. But I think statistically speaking 12-13 is when most boys start.

In all the comments about male masturbating one point seems to be left out of the conversation. There are two main reasons for males to masturbate. First, The penis is very sensitive and massaging it is a very pleasurable experience. The penis is very easily stimulated and brought to an erect position. The ability to achieve an erection is there from day one. It feels very terrific. That is common knowledge and the achieving self pleasure is considered, buy many, either unhealthy or either ethically wrong. This is not only bull **** but is just a means of behaviour control, practised by control freaks.

The second and to me the greatest reason is the demands of nature itself.  Once the male reaches puberty and his sex organs begin to mature nature takes over.  The testes begin to produce sperm and the prostrate prostate fluid and that has to go somewhere. Liken it to the process of urine production. The kidneys do their thing 24/7 as does the males reproductive system. As the bladder fills a point will be reached at which the person begins to think of urinating. No big deal but the thought is there.  As time passes the idle thought becomes stronger proceeding to the point where involuntary urination occurs. Ever see a little kid who has left it too long? They stand there trying to hold themselves dancing just before they pee themselves. With the male the same demands imposes itself and if left nature drains his reproductive system involuntary. There are two very important points. It's the kids reproductive system and the feeling is orgasmic. The release of seminal fluid is an orgasm, know what that feels like? In the male it's driven by nature in the process of draining the reproductive system. Just as the little kid experiences the demand for draining their bladder the boy is experiencing  the demand to drain his reproductive system. This is initiated with erotic thoughts which amplify as the need increases. If not satisfied the mind will take over, almost always, when asleep, or when trying to go asleep the discharge will occur. It is called an nocturnal emission. So parents, especially mothers or who ever does the laundry, wants to deal with either stained sheets two or more times a week tell you young boy it's a demand of nature and how to accommodate it. Having multiple boys I suggested, for their privacy, meet the need when showering. One final point, most males do it many more times than nature requires but they gotten to like the feeling/experience. It is not uncommon for boys to share the learning experience with another and it does not indicate any sexual leaning.

Please do not deal with this very natural process by denying it, telling the kid he's going to Hell for it, going to blind  and living with self imposed shame as I did.

No.  Even if someone is too young to produce sperm, he can still masturbate.  (Girls, too.)  Don't worry, perfectly normal.
