My daughter actually does this right now as well. She’s 14 months. I asked my pediatrician and she said it’s totally normal for them to do this with their hands or food. She said it’s how they learn to eat properly and not shove food too far down their throats. I have a six year old as well and never saw it with her which is why it worried me but doc said unless she’s hurting herself like scratching her mouth or bleeding then there’s nothing to worry about. Hope this helps!

My niece did that at that age.  We did have a chuckle at it, but I can definitely see your concern.  We just kept telling her no and she eventually stopped.  Your daughter doesn't have bulemia, she just found something "new" with herself.  Just keep on her or distract her when she starts to do this and she may stop on her own.

My nephews did this when they were that age, and then when I had kids (5) they all did this too.  We told them no each time and eventually they quit.  Just a phase.
