My little boy going off to kindergarten

Hi....I know I can't be alone on this subject so I'm hoping somebody can give me some help w/how to deal w/his first day heading off to kindergarten.  I'm already super anxious about it....and the thought of it makes me cry at the drop of a hat.  I'm very excited for him to go, we talk about it all the time about meeting new pals, new teachers, and I know that he'll do just fine.  The school is bigger than the little center he's been in for about 5.5 years.  He's been w/the kids in his class now from 6 months til almost 6 completing preschool and pre-kindergarten. So now he is heading off to a totally new school, that is huge in comparison to where he's been and he'll be going w/out knowing anyone(again I know he'll make friends there w/no problem)but I guess I'm a little scared for him.

Really........not a crazy person here ;).  I guess I'm a little sad about it....any suggestions to keep me from crying when we drop him off the 1st day?

Thanks to all in advance

Hi, thank you so much for your guidance on this, its much appreciated!  I've been actually online looking for info on this and there is a ton of it out there.  For the kids and also the parents.  I also came across a book about "The night before Kindergarten" that I am hoping to p/u for my little boy.

Thank you again!

Try googling the phrase "easing school jitters" or "starting school" or words similar to find more information on this topic.

Now for the parental crying - just do that in private.  Most mothers and some fathers do cry; however, our goal is to raise our children to be independent adults and each step along that path, we find they need us less and less.  Sad, but true.  It might be prudent to plan something extra special for the time your son is at school - coffee with a friend, a short shopping trip, etc.
