Very little self control

Three of my grandsons take medication so they will sleep.  The oldest was diagnosed with severe ADHD at 3.  At 11 he is also bi-polar.  He is a talented artist, and has trouble with language, math, and reading.  He makes friends easily, though he is the size of the average third grader.  He is addicted to scary movies, and has broken bones in both his brothers more than once.  He is intrigued by fire.  He sees a professional.

His 8 year old brother has no apparent problems other than sleep.

Their 6 year old brother has sleep problems, is slow in securing bladder control, reads appropriately for his age, gets frighteningly angry easily, is big muscle active, such as doing handsprings off the  back of the couch, has poor table manners, sprawls out over chairs, flapping his arms and rolling his eyes.  He seems unable to make friends, yet he has normal attachments to family.  Both of his brothers adamantly say he has no self control  He scratches himself deeply, knocks himself repeatedly in the head, and bites himself until it bleads.  . He seems of normal intelligence, but I have yet to see any insight about anything.

Best thing to do is try to advise some therapy for them all, this must be very hard on them and their family some outside help is definatly the best way to go, I would still check out any meds as they do have disturbing side effects. Good Luck

I think the sleep med is clonopin, but I'm not real sure.  If they do not take the med they stay awake for days at a time.  The oldest boy just started taking abilify.  My daughter is going to ask for a borderline personality disorder evaluation for the youngest.  Their natural father is an---epileptic ADHD bipolar dyslexic jerk who cannot hold a job even if he wanted one, and thinks others should support him.

If this is the boy who takes Meds it could be just that , if you google the med and put in side effects, you may learn if this med could be causing the problems you describe ,I do know that some have horrific affects with aggression,if you ask his Doc tor it may be able to be changed either dosage or evn a differant med.How does hw get on with his brothers as sometimes there is also some sibling rivalry and that doesnt help, you say broken bones so it may be a good idea for some counselling /therapy.Good luck let us know how it goes.
