Could Essential Tremor develpe into Parkinson?

I have had essential tremors in both hands for over thirty years, but lately my tremors are in a resting posture.  The movement is in my right hand for now. I will call my doctor for an appointment to get some insight on this new problem.  I just need some information, if essential tremors take on Parkinson symptoms? Please advise.
