Allergic reaction to Omnicef

My 4 yr.old son had an allergic reaction to Omnicef. Hives all over and swollen hands, arms and feet. It's been 18 days and still gets a slight case of the hives . Within the last week( 3 times) he's had leg pain(muscel pain) joint pain. He has a hard time walking, usually the next day he can, it lasts anywhere from 12-24 hours. The 3 times he's had the leg pain he's either been swimming or riding a bike, took him to the hospital, blood work, x-rays and urine all came back fine. Pediatrician thinks he may have over done it too soon after the allergic reaction.

Has this happened to anyone else? Anything to help us get through this, very frustrating!!!!

It could be that it takes time for the allergen to get out of his system ..hope hes okay soon ...

He still breaks out, mostly when he gets mad or in the sun. We haven't had to give him any Benadryl in about 4 days. Still though gets red marks from time to time. Doctor wants him to see an allergist. The hives and rash should have been gone by now she said. Just wants to make sure it's not something else.

How is he doing now I have heard many have allergies to Omnicef..is the rash/hives gone ?

They gave him a steroid for 5 days then Benadryl
