10 year old with kidney problems

My 10 year old son has mild right pelvocaliectasis, in part to an extrarenal pelvis. His bladder is small and he his protein in his urine eveytime (since August 2010) we go to to doctors. Can you please explain to me what all this means because i do not have a clue. We have done many test and blood work and the doctor always tell me what they find and now they want to fix it (next appt. in August), but i still dont understand what it all means when you put it all togeather. What is all of this and if they dont fix it what will happen? He was born with a abstruction but that was with the left kidney (never had any problems with it) but now everything they been telling me since August of 2010 is with his right kidney.

Thanks in advance for your help understanding all of this,

Doctors very often do not explain enough, its best to write down the questions to ask and read them off if you have to, making reference notes . I am thinking that you may get some information if you put this question onto the Urology forum ..have you also tried the search engines ..
