tamiflu is prescription, your doc would have to write a script for it. good luck
It does sound like flu I would call the Ped to make sure you give the correct meds...hope shes better soon .
thanks for the advice. i check the flu symptoms on the cdc website and seems like she def. has the flu she has every symptom. im gunna call the on call ped i think to make sure im doing everything i need too.
Have you ever tried the mucinex that comes in little granules that dissolve on the tongue? My boys take that alright. cough medicine is tricky. If your child has a productive cough, you want to be careful because suppressing a cough will cause all of the phlegm to sit there and fester. That is how something goes from a virus into an infection.
There is a product that I use that is over the counter that works pretty well but I try to only give it at night so that my child has the opportunity to 'cough' up the mucus. If he/she has a productive cough then a cough med with expectorant would be best to keep that mucous fluid. Mucinex has that proporty too. I do believe they make a cough syrup these days.
I use a humidifyer religiously when my kids have a cough. And a t spoon of honey for good measure never hurts. I don't think it actually stops a cough but it may soothe the throat and kids think it is helping ---- the great placebo effect! We do vit. C big time as well. They make Flinstone gummies with extra vit C and also Little Critters makes an immunity vit. with C and zinc.
I would check anything you give your child just to be sure that they don't have ibuprofen in it if you are giving them motrin already.
good luck. Sick kids mean tired parents!
As I said, my doc is pretty anti cough medicine because of secondary infections but best to go with your own docs plan of attack. Hope your little one gets well soon---- and wash your own hands a ton! good luck
