Kiddie Spa same lipgloss wand for everyone

Yesterday I took my daughter to a kiddie spa (the sanitization score for the state of NC is 97 from the cosmetology board) and she had her toe nails and finger nails painted and then wanted the mini glam make over (Dab of Lip Gloss, blush and eyeshadow! Followed with the perfect scented perfume and you are touched up and ready to go!)

I didn't pay much attention to the application because I was having to pay however I am positive that the lipgloss she applied came straight from a tube.  I didn't think much about it because she was so excited but now that I am thinking about it - EW!  I know those testers can harbor cold, flu, ecoli, herpes and probably others however what I want to know is about bacterial meningitis.

I know that there are (3) types meningococcal meningitis, the type caused by Hib, and pneumococcal meningitis.  I read that meningococcal meningitis symptoms will develop in a few hours or they may take one to two days and that they can not live long outside of the body (more than a few minutes.)

But what I could find is any information about HIB or pneumococcal meningitis - are the bacteria just as weak?  Is there any way that a bacteria that could cause meningitis survive in a tube of lipgloss?  I know for a fact that we were the only customers she had all afternoon so it was at least 3 hours, maybe even 4 since anyone else was there.

I am going over my daughter's vaccine records from the doctor's office (print out) and she is fully vaccinated - although we have the opportunity to get her 4-6 year boosters at her wellness visit in a month or so.

Please help.

Thank you so much for replying.  I did contact the state board - but I should have been paying more attention.  I did contact her ped. and everything is fine.  I realize I can't control everything but that risk was definitely something that didn't need to be there.

Thanks again.

Well I hope that you have reported this to someone at the place this isn't right and they need to stop this practise .,or at least give the child a sample of her own.. unused..I do not have an answer to what you seek, it would be best to ask your doctor what he thinks ..good luck
