My 3 year old fell on her head. Advice please!!!

The day before yesterday my daughter fell on the floor pretty hard on the back of her head. She dazed for about 2 or 3 mins eyes wide open but not moving. She finally got up and wasn't crying or nothing. Maybe just a lil. But after that she went on to the couch and watched cartoons Luke nothing happened. I took her to the ER last night cause I noticed she has been sleeping alot and very tired. The nurse said everything felt and seemed fine and that he wouldn't Reccomend a cat scan cause she is so young. I just wanna know if anyone has ever had their child fallen like mines and is it normal that she had been sleeping alot more than usual. I'm getting really worried. Please help thanks.

I do not think she was worried about bones but the child's brain. Child or adult is easy to get a concussion. I agree with marypops she should make sure her child is o.k. until she is satisfied she has been heard her child has been completely examine.

If you have no PCP yet the ER will take another look, and I agree with the others its best have her checked over again, it probably is okay but best be safe with the unusual sleeping ..good luck let us know how she is doing .

Children withstand falls much better than an adult because their bones are more limber. It sounds like she'll be fine, they know what to look for in the ER. If you are still worried you can always take her to see her PCP.

You can always call her old primary and see if he or she can recommend a doctor you.

Also after she has been checked out and you are satisfied you might want to see if you can find a good chiropractor to treat her neck because more than likely she also sustained whiplash.

The thing is, I just moved up to northcal from social like two months ago and she has no primary doctor out here yet. But she does have healthnet insurance.

If you do get back to the doctor with her, and I'd go to her regular doctor rather than the ER, ask if an MRI would be appropriate.  A CAT scan has tons and tons of radiation compared to an MRI.

As for the question of whether she should be seen, I think she should, just to rule things out.  Go to her pediatrician and explain what happened, and see if he or she thinks a referral to a specialist would be a good idea.
