My Child Wakes up SCREAMING ALL NIGHT LONG

My 18 month old toddler wakes up every night, all night long, SCREAMING a blood curdling scream. She seems to be awake and aware of surroundings, but is not easily comforted right away and has a difficult time retruning to sleep. Then when she does fall asleep she wakes again doing the same thing. It has been going on for several months now. Up until then she was a great sleeper. We have recently moved, but she started this right before we moved, so we ruled that out. I don't think it is night terrors by what I have read on line about those. HELP!!! It is very frustrating and tiresome, and a bit worry some. What do you think it may be?

She goes to sleep on her own. She is 18 months old and no longer nurses. She has one cup of milk in the morning (lactose intolerent) and drinks only water the rest of the time.

How does she go to sleep, do you put her into her crib and she goes off by herself or do you nurse her first,if you do it could be she is expecting to see you and wakes up to see if you are there. Does she drink milk or juice before bed and this can stimulate?
