Treating a baby 4 choking

surp...

have seen a few first aid videos on how to administer CPR on a youngling (less than 1y/o), all of which instruct CHEST THRUSTS. is the heimlich dangerous because it could tear the kiddo's diaphragm? are chest thrusts not going to affect the normal heart functioning? when administering 5 firm blows to the shoulder blades of the kiddo, does the hand suporting the kiddo not afford efough gentle pressure on the diaphragm to induce coughing as does the heimlich? (hand placed on thigh, kiddo placed on hand grasping the kiddo's jaw ensuring tilted away from the chest - open airway).

regards

If baby can cough let him cough it out..if his breathing sounds strange call 9-11   Place the baby face down along your forearm so baby's head is lower than his chest .support baby's head .in your palm against your thigh,do not cover baby's mouth or twist his neck.Use the heel of your palm to give 5 back slaps between the shoulder blades .If the object does not pop out, support baby's head and turn him face upon your thigh,  keep his head lower than his body.Place 2-3 fingers just below the nipple line on the baby's breastbone and give 5 quick chest  thrusts .If you object still does not come out and baby faints start CPR do not do any more back or chest thrusts .Start breathing procedures .Web Md have pictures of procedures ...This is as I understand it, I have performed the heimlich on 2 children of 3-4 years old standing with chest compressions under the sternum ,the food shot out ..good luck .
